Oakmont School prepares each student:
1. to be an academically successful person and a lifelong learner
2. to be a responsible citizen of the community and the world
Students are encouraged to take active roles in the Oakmont community by learning to function as a cohesive and effective student body. For example, students work together in the discussion of and planning for field trips.
They must come to a consensus on a leader, establish processes for decision-making, implement their procedures, and determine accountability.
Students at Oakmont have been working at the Habitat for Humanity warehouse for three years. Small groups of students spend from three to six hours painting, filing, making signs, cleaning, crushing cans for recycling, and other jobs that are needed. Oakmont received an Outstanding Volunteer Group Award from Habitat in recognition for the work that the students have done
3. to be respectful of all people and all ideas
